The Blessing
I was listening to a song this week called “The Blessing” by Cody Carnes. The song is based on a blessing in the book of Numbers 6:24-26. I was floored by just how much I needed to hear this and how deeply I was able to connect with the heart behind this song. Who doesn’t want the favor of God on their life for generation after generation? This led me to ponder what the Lord is doing here at Kathy’s House. He has plucked these men and women out of the pit and brought them here to be healed, encouraged, restored, equipped and most of all loved. He is healing marriages in our midst. He is saving babies that would have otherwise been aborted in our midst. He is restoring the hearts of fathers to children and children to fathers. Truly we are walking in The Blessing.
Since December remarkable transformations have occurred. Here’s an update on our graduates. Mary Ruth is now gainfully employed and living on her own in Mission Viejo. Desirae and Baby Samuel stepped into a management role at a new home for single mothers with children in Orange, CA. Justin is employed full time working in Recovery helping others gain the tools they need to keep their sobriety. Brian graduated and has made a choice to stay on as an employee for a season. Carlos is employed full time while going to culinary school. Michelle is spending 3 months with Akhayla Lethemba a partner ministry of ours in South Africa. While in South Africa she will be caring for children and sharing the gospel with them in villages. All these lives are bearing much fruit and you make that possible.
The biggest announcement we have is that we opened a third home. This home is a second phase for the men’s program. We currently have 4 graduates living there. This home is a place where the men who have graduated can live affordably in south Orange County while working full time and focusing on their relationship with the Lord and maintaining their sobriety. Our goal for this year is to open an additional home for the women in order to give them the same opportunity. If you love this ministry and the work we do please consider telling your friends about us.
Currently our needs seem to revolve around vehicles for the graduates. This is a reward for completing a difficult program and a crucial step to a successful transition back to life. If you have an extra car you would be willing to donate or if you hear of anyone selling a vehicle for a decent price, please reach out to me. This helps more than you know.
Thank you for your continued prayers, service, and financial blessings. There is no way that we would be able to accomplish what we do without each and everyone of you!
Blessings,
Jon Phillips
